Our Basic Praying Mantis Kit with egg case (ootheca) includes everything you will need to begin growing and raising your praying mantises. With this kit, you'll get the egg case, which will hatch many babies- usually more than a hundred! We also offer this kit with the living juvenile mantids instead of the egg. One or both kits may not be available during certain times of the year. You'll also get the cube mesh enclosure and plenty of live flightless fruit flies to feed your new buddies along with a culture to propagate these flies. In addition this kit comes with a mini water mister.


Enclosure is a cube with five fine mesh sides to promote healthy air flow while keeping newborn nymphs and their prey from escaping. There is one clear vinyl full side window for easy viewing of the praying mantises and a large zippered opening for easy access. Flightless fruit flies are shown as they are shipped to you with the kit. Upon receipt, just pour the flies into the feeding container and they will live and reproduce without any fuss, producing hundreds of offspring to feed your buddies. The egg case, also called an ootheca, will hatch after about 2-8 weeks. Waiting is the hard, but rewarding part
